I just finished a new piece for solo percussion. It is titled Dreaming about Tinguely’s Mechanical Sculptures. I used, very intuitively, the following techniques: for the rhythms, I developed a stochastic Lindenmayer system that creates syncopations based on the ‘rhythmic oddity’ method of Central Africa; for the instrument sequence, I employed Markov chains and random walks. Everything was done in the SuperCollider programming language.
